About Yaletown Lions Club

Thirty-seven neighbours strong, and proud to stand among 1.4 million Lions around the world. Small enough to know everyone by name, big enough to make a real difference.

Strong communities are created when people come together to give back.

We throw a gala. And it's a whole lot of fun.

Most service clubs canvas and fundraise all year long, knocking on doors and passing the hat over and over. We do things a little differently. Instead of asking again and again, we pour everything into one unforgettable night. It’s a gala where the whole community comes together for a great time and an even greater cause.

And it keeps getting better. Every year the gala grows a little bigger and raises a little more than the year before, with 2025 our most successful night yet.

Making a Difference in Yaletown

Since its founding, YTLC has raised over $1,000,000 in support of local community initiatives, with more than $390K directed toward Elsie Roy Elementary School to fund technology upgrades, music programs, and educational enrichment.

The club is proud to support a range of local organizations, including:

Through these partnerships, YTLC continues to create meaningful, lasting impact where it matters most — at the heart of the community.

Bringing the Community Together

At the core of YTLC’s success is its ability to bring people together through engaging, high-impact events. The club hosts an annual fundraising Gala each year, attracting local professionals, sponsors, and community supporters.

Past events have included unique experiences such as Dîner en Blanc, with each event designed to both inspire and give back.

In 2026, YTLC presents the Wild Wild West Gala, taking place on June 6 at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver — continuing a tradition of memorable events that directly support local causes.

About Lions Clubs International

A Global Network

Lions Clubs International was founded on June 7, 1917, by Melvin Jones, a Chicago business leader who believed that local business clubs should look beyond professional interests and work to improve their communities. What started as a small gathering in Chicago has grown into the world’s largest service club organization, with over 1.4 million members across more than 46,000 clubs in over 200 countries and geographic areas.

The organization went international in 1920 when the first club outside the United States was established in Windsor, Ontario, Canada — making Canada a foundational part of the Lions story. Today, Lions Clubs International is headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, USA.
